It’s an all Boyd Sports matchup for best summer leagues’ ballpark with Johnson City and Greeneville squaring off in the finals.

The Doughboys, which play at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City and the Flyboys, which play at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, are the last two ballparks left in the 2022 MLB Summer Leagues Best of the Ballparks fan vote.

As of now, Pioneer Park is crushing TVA Credit Union Ballpark in the poll. Go HERE and scroll toward the bottom of the page to pick a park. Voting ends June 26 at midnight.

Ballpark Digest, one of the bibles of the sport, created the Summer Leagues best ballpark contest, and the finals also brought an all-Appalachian League matchup between the two Boyd Sports teams.

The Appalachian League comprises 10 summer collegiate teams and is part of the Major League Baseball (MLB) and USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline to identify and develop players for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. Formed in 1911 and originally a professional league, the Appalachian League is one of the longest-running leagues in the history of pro baseball.

Ballpark Digest created two fan votes between MLB-sanctioned leagues and the much larger category of summer-collegiate baseball, and the contest started with 64 ballparks total.

Boyd Sports also is overseeing the return of Smokies baseball to East Knoxville with a new multi-use stadium to be built on the edge of the Old City. The team is expected to make its debut in 2024 after a nearly 25-year absence of playing professional baseball in Knoxville.

Either way in the 2022 Ballpark Digest poll, Boyd Sports is the winner. And soon Knoxville will be, too.
