Steel in place, concourse takes shape

The City of Knoxville noted a milestone in the construction of the stadium with all of the steel framing in place before the end of 2023.

“You can really see the stadium shaping up,” said Barry Brooke, the Sports Authority’s construction representative, in the blog post that can be read HERE. “Completing the structural steel is important because it frees up the tradesmen to move on to other jobs. They’re framing out walls on the first floor now.”

The stadium is expected to open in 2025 and in time for the debut of the Knoxville Smokies baseball team in April of that year. As a multi-use venue, it will also host year-round events, including other sports, concerts, festivals and celebrations.

The video posted by the city on YouTube shows the progress being made at the overall site with on-screen indicators for the concourse, infield and outfield.

With the calendar now flipped to 2024, the countdown to the debut season in 2025 starts.
