Mayor: Bring baseball back to Knoxville

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon posted a video this week to explain her support for the proposed multi-use stadium to be built in East Knoxville on the edge of the Old City complete with a background of baseball sounds and images.

The Sports Authority, Knoxville City Council and Knox County Commission all will vote within the next week after a workshop was held Nov. 8 to examine the details of the $80.1 million project are scheduled for the coming week. Approval of the agreement would authorize construction to begin.

“It’s a huge win for the entire community,” Kincannon said. “In the end, it is abundantly cleat that the benefits to Knoxville outweigh the cost, and I can’t wait to come back here to shop at farmers’ markets, attend amazing live concerts, see some great soccer, and yes, bring baseball back to Knoxville.”

Kincannon’s two-minute video can be watched online on YouTube.

Let’s do this. Let’s finally bring baseball back to Knoxville where it belongs.
